Lady Gaga for Vogue March

There are many reasons the world has paid so much attention to the antics, the style, and the brand that is Lady Gaga. Her modus operandi of constantly breaking set within fashion and pop culture and synthesizing them into new forms and ideas is a skill she has beautifully mastered. Like most great artists, her work often evokes misunderstanding, perplexity, and fear to those who do not understand it. But I feel that the greatest thing about Lady Gaga is she does exactly as she thinks. She is one of the few people who know how to turn the dreams and ideas in her head, no mater how scandalous or surreal and turn them into realities. It is this magic that shows in her feature spread in Vogue's March Power Issue. And a subject to choose indeed. Her otherworldly creativity and desire to unite completely with popular culture can be nothing short of magical. With her single "Born This Way" released earlier this month, Gaga is beginning to unveil to the world her newest creation. Check out the photos of this little monster from the spread after the break.

Blake Lively Becomes The New Face of Chanel Mademoiselle

Blake Lively, the uber-stylish starlet who plays the equally glamorous Upper East Side-dweller Serena van der Woodsen on the CW show Gossip Girl is now reaching new heights as she begins to take her place as the new face of Chanel's Mademoiselle handbag collection. The 2011 collection began during Chanel's Cruise 2011 show and Karl Lagerfeld was the photographer who shot Blake Lively for the new campaign. Lagerfeld spoke highly of Lively and called her 'a kind of American dream girl'. It's no doubt that the blonde bombshell has definitely been garnering the eyes of the who's who in fashion as an American muse, with a double Vogue cover, and even snatching the cover of their Best Dressed Special Edition issue. Perhaps its her ethereal goddess appeal, those perfectly coiffed golden locks that even still manage to look smokin' hot all tousled and strewn aside, a look that her character Serena van der Woodsen has managed to be caught it numerous times. But even though she may not be the Park Avenue Princess that she plays on television, Lively's individualism and her willingness to embrace fashion garner her tons of praise for her canny dress smarts. And now she follows in the footsteps of other great actresses who have been the face of Chanel Mademoiselle such as Audrey Tautou, Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley, and Vanessa Paradis.

The British Are Coming

Who said Americans have all the style? A group of fashionable creative individuals based in London whose ambitions are as impressive of the site they've come together to create, Yin & Yang. The characters the site is named after are just as interesting.Yin comes from Niran, a creative advertising student in London who is a self-proclaimed Japanophile and future music label entrepreneur and Yang is Ernest, also a creative advertising student who loves photography and is hoping to work in public relations. The site also is supported by group of equally cutting-edge artists or "The Family", as they call themselves comprising Leona, an aspiring singer and tv personality, Olive, a Brooklynite fashion designer, DJB, a London music and fashion enthusiast, Yemi, a basketball-playing poet and dancer going to school in Maryland, and Jazz a hip-hop loving web designer from London.

I'm Diggin' It

Daniel Simmons aka Diggy Simmons, the son of hip-hop dynasty legend and mogul Joseph Simmons known better as Rev. Run has certainly grown up from the young pre-teen we watched on MTV's Run's House. His incredibly precocious creativity and keen eye for avant-garde, cutting-edge style have placed him in the spotlight of numerous celebrities and creative professionals, one being budding tastemaker Marquis Phifer. Like all of the members of the Russell family, creative acuity and business sense appear to be inherited family genes and Diggy is no different. But what is surprising audience so much now is his apparent swift execution of lyrical style. Not only is Diggy making people think twice about his artistic abilities but they're seeing reflections of his father in his superb rap skills. Read more to check out a vignette of him freestyling to "Shook Ones" by Mobb Deep and just so your mouth doesn't get to dry from being wide open, it's best to take this one with water.

Justin Bieber: Maverick or Make-Believe?

The men's fashion and culture magazine Details compiled a list of 2010's Mavericks, men who have in some way profoundly impacted style and culture. In their inclusion of 16-year-old pop star Justin Bieber, I was skeptical to agree with Details inclusion of him as a "maverick". He was discovered by R&B superstar Usher who got him audition for Island Def Jam in front of L.A. Reid. They agreed to sign him and since then the "Bieber Fever" has been spreading. Now I'm not against the furthering of a 16-year-old boy's dreams of using his prepubescent voice to skyrocket himself into fame. I'm against a magazine that overall does an excellent job of recognizing admirable style and cutting-edge culture actually calling this kid a maverick. Does this mean that guys like Zac Efron, Corbin Bleu, and Soulja Boy are also mavericks?

Does Kristen Stewart Hate Beauty?

I am certainly beginning to think so. Style.com spotted the actress at the screening of her new movie Welcome  To The Rileys by the Cinema Society in New York City. According to the article in Style.com's People & Parties section, "In her latest film, Welcome to the Rileys, Kristen Stewart of Twilight fame plays a down-and-out underage prostitute." Stewart no doubt has a knack for playing characters immersed in dark situations and it appears that her moody temperament, social awkwardness, and immense shyness also play out in her off-screen life. She hardly ever looks comfortable when being photographed at events, even when she's looking as elegantly as she did at the premiere. The post also reported " Stewart had swapped the Spring 2011 Valentino dress she wore on the red carpet for gray jeans, a beanie, and a T-shirt. She was Bella all over again."

Sarah Jessica Parker Dazzles at the NYC Ballet Fall Gala

The New York City Ballet's annual Fall Gala provided an opportunity for New York's glitterati to don their most stylish outfits for a night of beauty and ballerinas. Style.com's People and Parties section took note of the stars who were in attendance such as Matthew Settle from the CW series Gossip Girl who expounded on his fond memories of falling in love with a ballerina after sneaking in a show in Tennessee, Natalie Portman, an actress in the upcoming film Black Swan, Candace Bushnell of the Sex and the City dynasty was also present at Lincoln Center and the embodiment of her character Carrie Bradshaw in Sarah Jessica Parker also appeared in usual glamorous garb in a stunning ethereal peach Halston Heritage gown with a string of large white pearls overlapping silver jeweled necklace. The event went spectacularly and the air of enchantment was there that only an event in New York City can bring. More photos after the jump.

Trey Songz Promotes RocaWear Next At Macy’s Herald Square

R&B singer Trey Songz along with fellow singer Melanie Fiona have become the new face of RocaWear’s Next collection, a new campaign focusing on trendsetting individuals and “individuals, destinations, fields of endeavor and any and everything, uniquely positioned to elevate the culture”. Today Trey Songz will be appearing at 5 p.m. at Macy’s in New York’s Herald Square and 34th Street. Shoppers with a purchase of $50 or more will earn an opportunity to receive an autographed copy of Trey Songz’s newest CD, Passion, Pain, and Pleasure. In addition to the appearances, RocaWear Next is also sponsoring a contest looking to discover talent in creative careers such as fashion designers, stylists, models, photographers, and artists. The campaign overall appears to be very cohesive and looks promising. No doubt an effort to ameliorate the RocaWear brand, it looks as if the name is seeking to set its sights and standards higher as well as recognize those in the culture simultaneously doing so. Check out more on the RocaWear Next campaign here.

Hail to the Queen

Absolutely no one in the history of American fashion as well as international fashion has possessed quite the influence or power of Anna Wintour. Editor-in-chief of the fashion journalism giant Vogue, Wintour is responsible for being the igniting force behind many presently famous designers today. For a woman inundated daily by all things fashion and glamour, she herself has maintained a consistent and conservative image. With her blond pageboy bob and her ubiquitous dark large sunglasses, she is a constant fixture in all of the fashion shows and fashion weeks that occur around the world. Seen by some as an "ice queen", others respect Anna Wintour's continuous rational, objective, and driven nature which has obviously produced the great fruits of Vogue Magazine we see today. We've got some of the best Anna Wintour quotes lined up today in homage to the woman whose raison d'etre has inspired a generation of fashion enthusiasts and fostered creativity.
